Today, April 8, 2024, was the last day to see a solar eclipse in the Americas for the next 22 years. We aren’t in the main viewing space (here’s a map), but we managed to see the partial from the backyard here at Penny Candi central. Also, several sites online were kind enough to host live feeds and to publish images. Hopefully the links below will let you relive what you may have witnessed live or get a virtual taste of what went down — across? above? I’ll let Bill Nye explain — with the earth and sun this day.
And because this site is at heart about creators and writers as well as science and technology, I’ve added a link to a musical inspired by the eclipse and a list of covers of Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart, which I heard an inordinate number of times today because, I guess… similar words. Theatre kids put on a show about the Eclipse. Anyone earnestly attempting creation should be applauded and I must say, the below production is earnest AF. We put our visions out there for the world to consume and brace ourselves for both praise and judgement. Give it a shot!
